FOREST DOCUMENTS
(artist multiple, edition of 18)

July, 2023
Örö island, Finland

In July 2023 I spent an entire month on Örö island in Finish archipelagos as a part of Ores residency there. Being surrounded by water and dry forest in the middle of summer made me want to capture this crisp moment. After days of wandering I ended up putting together Forest documents, an eclectic collection of printed and found matter. Taking a pause from working with foraged ingredients, instead I focused on all the fallen things on the forest floor (pines needles, decaying leaves, twigs, bark, tree peels - all the less exciting things when you walk through the woods). Having limited access to the materials, I used various stationary and domestic items to make this publication, such as notepads, sticky notes, parchment paper, tea bag filters, and envelopes. With all the above I tried to create a sculptural space for the fallen matter to accumulate and create new narratives. I hope that this publication can act like a small corner of the large woods where fallen things find comfort.

FOREST DOCUMENTS consist of:

1. Leaves that find a way;
2. It may not seem like it, but needles are leaves;
3. Tree skin;
4. Two blueberry stains;
5. Fallen matter;
